Love Isn’t … Part One

Love isn’t something you fall into, it’s something you grow.”

I remember a PSA that said that.

I was a kid then, but I have never forgotten it. I have on occasion chosen to ignore it, but I have never forgotten it.

“Love isn’t something you fall into, it’s something you grow.”

As we tend the garden of our relationships, we should be mindful of this fact. And not just with romantic entanglements but with all our dealings with all the people in our orbit. The love we share with children and parents and all our family needs to grow too. Love of friends and our community needs constant weeding and watering (and even every now and then just a little manure).

And then there is the love of that which we hold as sacred and good. That too needs tending. Where we gladly place our time, talent, and treasure, so there we have pledged our heart. Tending that which is greater than ourselves tends our soul as well.

“Love isn’t something you fall into, it’s something you grow.”

Be sure to tend your love today.
