What Public Schools are is a promise each generation makes to the next, and the next generation fulfills for the benefit of all generations past and yet to come. It is the single grain that when planted yields the bushel. It is a covenant we make with the future and a sacrament we hold with the past.
It is all of us in community saying that we will provide without fault or favor and for the betterment of all the tree of knowledge from which all may freely partake. You need not prove yourself worthy, you need not pay a great price, you need only to walk in the open doors of the school house, open the books therein and then open your mind to receive the bounty of knowing and understanding. It is a practice of life lived abundantly.
It is a key to the kingdom.
