Let me begin with what it is not.
It is not a wish, not a laundry list of “I want”s
It is not talking to no one.
It is not futile, useless, or wasteful.
It is not mindless repetition of words that hold no meaning.
It is not a bargaining session
It is not something you do because it will make others think you are a good person.
What prayer is.
It is a practice best done with practice
It is a practice that takes you out of the confusion and into a state of clarity
It is a practice that changes you, and shows you how to change your world
It is a practice that need not be spoken but it is still deeply felt
It is a practice that connects you to that which is bigger than yourself.
It is a practice that keeps us mindful of abundant life, of the call to build the Kingdom, of the ever-presence of Divine Providence.
